Who We Are?

Our Mission

  • Provide leak detection equipment of the highest quality, reliability, and longevity.
  • Provide calibration and other services that solve your real-world problems and concerns.
  • Assure your leak detection needs are successfully achieved.

Brief history

Spectro Physics was founded in 2003, after seeing a universal need throughout industry for improved leak detection equipment, methodologies, throughput, and reliability. This came after a decade of solving one leak check problem after another, correcting misconceptions about leak detection, and evaluating literally tens of thousands of test strip-chart recordings and identifying every component of each test.

Discovered, was a core of leak detection challenges that are universal in almost all leak detection applications. From these, specialized hardware and software algorithms were developed, tested, and are now used in almost every application. An independent study by a large user of this equipment found our test reliability (ie. not passing a bad part), to be 1:100,000,000.

Hardware and software have continued to improve as flaws or additional needs have become known. Spectro Physics has always valued the experiences of the operators and maintenance technicians and has made many improvements based on their input. Making machines intuitive and easy to operate and making them easy to maintain as well, is not enough unless they also meet throughput requirements, have high operational availability, and are traceable.

After years of suppling leak testing solutions, we were noticing customers were having trouble with calibrated leaks and calibration services. All too often, new calibrated leaks would arrive not leaking at the leak rate stated on their calibration sticker and certificate. We also found this happening when a calibrated leak went out for re-calibration. After waiting much too long, the leak would return reading incorrectly. This was not a business we pursued, but because of customer need Spectro Physics has become an A2LA accredited ISO/IEC 17025:2017 calibration laboratory offering a wide array of calibrated leaks and calibration services.

Our Core Values

Spectro Physics strives to be a member of your team by putting your needs highest on our priority list. Our experience and knowledge are readily shared, reducing your learning curve and eliminating serious and costly mistakes. We educate on ways to improve your product/process designs for faster, more efficient production. We value the production worker and maintenance technician as highly valued customers. After all, they are the ones who live with the equipment, seeing things no one else ever sees and giving us feedback so we may continue to improve their experience. We offer only as much solution as you require with no desire to sell you more than you really need. When well understood, our equipment will run tens of millions of cycles with only routine maintenance. Therefore, it is in our best interest that you, the customer, are well educated in its use.
